Upgrading Firmware

Firmware upgrades are available for PedalProEx, Pedalino and Abox II. 

Preparing PedalProEx for upgrades: Connect the PedalProEx to your Mac/PC using the USB cable supplied. DO NOT switch on your PedalProEx. With the PedalProEx switched off, press and hold the down arrow key and switch on the PedalProEx while still holding the down arrow.

Preparing Pedalino for upgrades: Connect the Pedalino to your Mac/PC using the USB cable supplied. With the Pedalino switched OFF, press and hold the Menu button and switch on the Pedalino while still holding the Menu button.

Preparing Abox II for upgrades: Connect the Abox II to your Mac/PC using the USB cable. DO NOT switch on your Abox II. With the Abox II switched off, press and hold the Tempo button and switch on the Abox II.

  • Your Vintage Revolution device is now in ‘Firmware Upgrade’ mode. Your computer should immediately recognise the new device by showing the corresponding icon on the PedalManager window. On your computer screen, the PedalManager will automatically open a window for firmware upgrades (FW upgrade mode).

  • Click on the “Load Firmware File” button and load the new FW that you have downloaded from the Vintage Revolution website (Support section).

  • For Pedalino insert the 30-digit 'firmware unlock key' (serial code) and click OK. If your code is correct, proceed by clicking 'yes' and perform the upgrade. For Abox II and PedalProEx the unlock key is required. For PedalProEx, the procedure may continue with repeating the FW upgrade for the other processors included in the unit. If this is the case, this can be done without rebooting the unit.

  • IMPORTANT: Do NOT switch off your device while it is in the process of upgrading.

  • Once the firmware upgrade is completed reboot your device.

Managing your preset list

A 'preset list' is a list of sound presets and favourite presets. PedalProEx can store 400 sound presets (numbered 000-399) and 18 favourites. The PedalManager can edit and store in your computer preset lists exceeding 400 sound presets. Presets with numbers from 400 onwards can be saved in a file on your computer.

  • Opening and Saving a preset list: To open a preset list, click on the "Preset list" menu and open the preset list file in the left grid or right grid. Use the open preset file window to select the preset list.

  • Saving a preset list: Click on the "Preset list" menu and save the preset list of the corresponding grid (left or right) as a file.

  • Creating an empty preset list: Click “New” on the "Preset list" menu and choose the grid, left or right, in which you intend to generate the empty list.

Importing and exporting preset lists

  • Connecting PedalProEx with your Mac/PC using a USB cable: Once the PedalProEx is switched on and showing the loaded preset in the display (ex. Play: 000>Crybaby), press and hold the Exit button of your PedalProEx until its display shows the message “USB Remote terminal”. Connect the PedalProEx to your Mac/PC using the USB cable. IMPORTANT: If a Pedalino Foot Controller is connected to your PedalProEx, you must first interrupt the ADES communication using the ADES button on the Pedalino.

  • Importing and exporting preset lists:

    • To import a preset list from the PedalProEx into the PedalManager, click “Import” on the "Preset list" menu and select the grid in which you want to display the preset list of your PedalProEx. DO NOT switch off the PedaPro or press Exit until the progress bar shows that the import operation is complete.

    • To export a preset list from PedalManager into your PedalProEx, click “Export”on the "Preset list" menu and select the grid you would like to upload to the PedalProEx. DO NOT switch off the PedaPro or press Exit until the progress bar shows that the export operation is completed.

  • Disconnecting from your Mac/PC: Once you are finished managing your preset list, press the Exit button of your PedalProEx to exit the Remote Terminal mode, and then disconnect the USB cable form the PedalProEx.

Preset naming

Each preset name is made up to 10 characters (chars). To add extra information regarding a particular feature of the preset, you can use the Special chars list. To access the special chars list click on a preset name and use Ctrl + right click on the mouse and select the special char. This special char will be added to the name.

Using Commands

  • Copy and Paste: Select one or more presets from the Left or Right Grid. Use the command CMD + C for Mac or Ctrl + C for PC to copy and CMD + V for Mac or Ctrl + V for PC to paste the selected preset/s. You may copy and paste presets from one grid to the other.

  • Drag and drop: Select one or more presets from the left or right grid. Click the trackpad (or mouse button) and hold. Move the cursor using the trackpad (whilst pressing it) to drop the selected presets you intend to move into the other grid. Release the pressure on the trackpad.

  • Delete: Select one or more presets from the left or right grid. Press “Delete” and the selected presets will be replaced by empty presets {empty-ps}.

  • Remove: Select one or more presets from the left or right grid. Press “Remove” to remove the selected presets from the list. In this case, presets that have been removed are not replaced by empty presets and the presets that are below the removed presets are shifted up and renumbered accordingly.

  • Create: Select a preset from the left or right grid. Press “Create” to create an empty preset in the position you have selected. The remaining presets below the selected position will be shifted down.

  • Undo and redo: Use CMD + Z for Mac or Ctrl + Z for PC to undo the last operation performed on the list. Use CMD + Y for Mac or Ctrl + Y for PC to redo the last operation on the list. Be aware that when you export your preset list to the PedalProEx, the undo command will NOT undo the export operation.

Backing up your preset list

  • Connect the PedalProEx to your Mac/PC (using the USB cable).

  • From the menu “preset list”, click “Import Left Grid”. Wait until the download is complete.

  • Save the preset list in a secure folder in your computer.

Restoring your backup

  • Connect the PedalProEx to your Mac/PC (using the USB cable).

  • From the menu “preset list” click “Open Left Grid”.

  • From the menu “preset list” click “Export Left Grid”. Wait until the upload is complete.

Reformat

  • Open an old list of preset generated with FW version 7.XX operating on 500 presets

  • Once is loaded the reformatted preset list can be saved or store in your PedalProEx 

  • Preset above 399 will not be uploaded in the PedalProEx

  • Favourites point presets above 399 will be set to 0
